“Purchased a 2017 Nitro Z18. Would struggle with getting on plane with a full tank of gas and my tournament load with a co-angler. My dealer could not figure it out and it became very frustrating suggesting different props at a cost of $500 each. I gave the Stingray XR III a shot for $150. Best investment I ever made even after my dealer told me not to waste my money. Nitro Z18 jumps right up in plane with very little bow rise regardless of the load. “By far one of the best yet cheapest investments you can make on any boat is a StingRay Hydrofoil. I run the HyperFoil 500 on My Ranger z522 Bass Boat. It took less than 5 minutes to install on my Evinrude 250, and it has already been the best thing I could have put on my bass boat.
Being the biggest boat in the field means that I will have a speed disadvantage over the pack of smaller boats. Having the StingRay HyperFoil 500 on my boat makes up a lot of that disadvantage by putting me on plane before the lighter boats, and allowing me to reach my top speed even faster. “I bought a used Monterey 23 explorer deck boat with a 350 I/O about 5k lbs dry. It was fine with 2 people but put 6 adults on it and I would have to ask people to move up front to get on plane.
One guy said I should get a whale tail it worked for his ski boat. I was really skeptical a $100+ chunk of plastic was going to make a difference, if it did all boat manufactures would be putting them on at the factory.
All other options (trim tabs, engine performance mods) were a lot more money and more time consuming so I figured it was only around $100 and I just burned that in fuel that day, might as well give it a try. After calling my boat mechanic and getting the all clear, I picked the Classic Pro, shipping was fast, and it only took 15 minutes to install.
The next day I was going to test it, 6 adults and full fuel. I was honestly amazed, it got up on plane without having to ask anyone to get up front, no matter who you pick, its like calling them the fatty. Getting on plane and not having to insult anyone was great. I was cruising at 30 mph but down about 400 rpm from my normal 30 mph cruise before the hydrofoil. I could also plane about 8 mph slower. I would not have anticipated this but those were the numbers. I am very happy with it the Classic Pro, thank you!”

“I’ll be letting everyone know about this product…I have only good news about the StingRay XRIII. Boat was on plane incredibly fast. The wake is spread out fatter with a better wave lip. At low idle the boat handles a lot better…I think it even brought me a little fishing luck!”

“I have a 1998 Nitro 185 sport Fish and Ski, and I installed the StingRay XRIII, SR on my boat. I am extremely satisfied with the look and performance of this product. Before the hydrofoil, it would take about 15-20 seconds to jump out of the hole on take off, my top speed was 32 MPH according to my GPS (on a glassy lake), and the ride was a bit rough. Once I installed the StingRay XRIII, SR my boat jumps out of the hole immediately, my top speed is 39 MPH (on a glassy lake), and it rides smooth. The hydrofoil seems to hold the boat down in the water, and the performance and speed of the boat is a lot better not to mention the gas savings that I got after I installed it. The instructions are easy, no drilling required on my motor (120 HP Force) and installed in just a few minutes.”
